Olive oil is an emollient plant oil that has similar effects to other non-fragrant plant oils. Olive oil has a high fatty acid content  that comes from the emollient squalene, making it perfect for dry skin. Olive oil contains oleic, palmitic, and linoleic acids which promotes skin and hair growth as well as promoting a high cell turnover. Olive oil also contains phenolic compounds that provide antioxidant benefits such as protection against enzymes that cause a breakdown of skin collagen and extend the human hair shaft. When applied topically, olive oil can protect against environmental damage caused by free radicals, such as pollution and UV exposure. Olive oil has a high content of vitamin A, E and D which protects skin, especially during colder seasons, making it perfect for sensitive skin types.
